Country Gospel Program: A Musical Experience for Heart and Soul

I offer a Country Gospel program that can be a unique musical experience for your congregation. This ten-song set has already been performed at the Evangelical Church in Lindlar, Germany, where the response was overwhelming: the church was as full as on Christmas. Guests traveled up to 90 minutes just to be part of this special experience. As a surprise, a line dance group even made an appearance and danced to selected Country Gospel songs by Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton.

Pastor Jennifer Scheier incorporated themes from the lyrics into her sermon. What would have been a regular 50-minute service became a vibrant, 90-minute worship celebration—and the time flew by.

For your reference, I’ve prepared a 1½-minute video reel with excerpts from three of the songs:

The link also includes the lyrics of the ten songs, which were projected onto a large screen during the service so the congregation could sing along. Between songs, I gave a short historical introduction (30–60 seconds) about the origin and meaning of each piece.

Pastor Scheier translated the English lyrics into German so that the message of these classic American Gospel songs was accessible to everyone. With help from the congregation, a thematically fitting decoration was also created, giving the service a special atmosphere.

Of course, all of this is optional—each congregation can tailor the format to suit their own needs and cultural preferences.

My Musical Setup

I perform live, playing three instruments simultaneously:

  • Vocals
  • Acoustic guitar (including solo parts)
  • Cajon – with foot pedals for snare (right foot) and bass drum (left foot)

The live setup is complemented by subtle backing tracks, which I produced and mixed myself. As an experienced music producer and sound engineer, I can bring a small PA system if needed—though usually, the excellent acoustics of the church are more than enough. The light amplification simply helps balance the sound between the cajon, guitar, and vocals.
